Full 2012 survey programme now available

Aims and origins
  • Formed through AONB Down to Earth in the Upper Onny in 2003.
  • Initial aims – to work within the community to find out more about the local populations of Lapwings, Curlews, Skylarks and other wildlife species, and help their conservation.
  •  Around 30 members, all local people with an interest in wildlife who live or work in the area.
  • Survey work on Lapwing and Curlew every year since 2004.
  • Area: 120 square kilometres between the Long Mynd and the Welsh border
  • Group intends to continue with this work.
  • Now helping other birds species – Dipper, Barn Owl and Woodland Birds - through nest box schemes, and monitoring other scarce butterflies and plants.
