A list of those groups of species currently available will appear to the right of the map under 'Information'.

Click on one species group to find a list recorded for that specific area (the 2x2 km red square - 'tetrad') plus the date each species was last recorded.  Some of the groups listed only show key species such as the priority BAP species for birds, or plants indicative of good quality habitat.

Please get in touch on Natural.environment@shropshire.gov.uk if you have a wildlife sighting that you would like to report or have any questions about the map.

To find where a specific species has been seen in Shropshire use the maps in the 'Recording Groups' section of this web site.

A Kinnerley speciality

Click this photo to see just how rare this Kinnerley speciality is in Shropshire!Floating Water-plantain is a real rarity in Shropshire, the UK and Europe but the flood-plains of Kinnerley provide it a home.  Click the photo to see a map of where it is found in Shropshire.

Have you seen this plant?

Photo of Spindle by Ian ThompsonSpindle is an attractive shrub that is rather uncommon in Shropshire.  It was last recorded near the village of Kinnerley in 1984.  Have you seen it since?

Have a look in the hedgerows in autumn for the amazing pink fruit with bright orange seeds.  If you do find it please do let the Shropshire Botanical Society know of your find so we can update our maps.  You can use our online form by clicking HERE.

Spindle is relatively common in the rest of parish perhaps because the hedgerows in the Kinnerley parish are so good.  Click the photo to find out where in Shropshire Spindle is found.
