Geological Records

Did you know that 'Inland Rock Outcrop and Scree Habitats' is a type of BAP habitat, which can support a range of species, particularly lichens, liverworts, mosses and invertebrates?

The Shropshire Geological Society want to increase the database of Shropshire's geological features to help protect our geodiversity. Please submit your sightings of geological features using the form below.

This form is designed to capture simple information, which can be utilised to record geological features and direct geological surveyors to areas that need more detailed survey. Digital photos of the area and a close up of the rock are very useful for directing geological surveyors to the site. Photograps should ideally include one general view of the ‘rock exposure’ and a few close-ups (10m – 2m) of the area you found interesting.

For more information on Shropshire's geodiversity visit the website of the Shropshire Geological Society.

A paper form (click here) can be printed off for filling in offline or in the field.
